This feel of this place reminds me of a home in Southern California I lived in for a time when I was young. It has the same leafy plants scattered around, the mix of finished and rough materials, drawers and cupboards that stick when it gets too humid, and a floor worn from bare and sandy feet. The windows stayed open, and the fans on day and night. Our dog’s favorite place was either under the table with her chin on your foot, or on the patio in the shade of the banana tree.
