FIRM LIVING 2012 CATALOGUE

Firm Living’s 2012 catalogue is out, and it is of course amazing.  I love the soft hues and neutrals mixed with the Scandinavian wood tones.

“Welcome to our Spring/Summer 2012 collection!  Creative minds, skilled hands, great techniques and a lot of effort is put into each and every single product. We value sustainable and honest materials, high quality and good craftsmanship. The result is a universe of amazing materials twisted into straight forward and geometric designs. This season we fell in love with the grey and rose colour scheme mixed with scandinavian wood notes. This fine combination of colors and materials creates a coherent and bright look – Our interpretation of spring/summer 2012.”

LILLY CHAIR | WE DO WOOD

Established in 2006 by Henrik Thygesen and Sebastian Jørgensen, We Do Wood is based on the vision that eminent design and strict sustainability principles should go hand in hand.  I very much agree, and I appreciate the commitment to functionality, design, and sustainability in everything they do.   There isn’t a product they make that I wouldn’t love to have in my home.  Now that our girls are getting a little bigger, I would love a set of Lilly Chairs and Geo Tables for their room.  Besides looking fantastic, they are build to last.  The Lilly Chair is the perfect fit for ages 1-5, is easy to assemble, and available in three color variations.

REVIEWS | MUUTO UNFOLD PENDANT LIGHT

Muuto’s Unfold Pendant is one of my favorites.  Made by Swedish design house Form Us With Love, the Unfold is made of soft silicone rubber with a frosted opal diffuser that hides the bulb.  The silicone finish adds a warmer feel to the classic industrial design.   Available in a few bright colors, as well  as grey and black, it measures about 12 inches high and 13 inches wide, and weighs in at 15 lbs.

HOMES | MICHAEL TOTH

Michael took time off from his job and built his house almost entirely by himself from drawing phase through the finishing touches.  What started as a hobby project in Skåne Hardeberga would eventually become his families new home.  I am very jealous of the mud room/coat area, the perfect amount of storage for everything you might need.   And that huge wall calendar!  I think the perfect thing for our home would be a giant planner/calendar where we could organize our crazy lives.

WORKSPACE COMPONENTS BY HENRYBUILT

Lisa over at Henrybuilt was kind enough to introduce me to their kitchen Workspace Component Group.  The system includes a cutting board, colander, and knife block designed to integrate with the backsplash system and countertop area around the sink.  Made in either  wood or high-density plastic, both options are durable and easy to clean.  Such a great combination of form and function!  I love that the colander suspends over the sink instead of sitting in it.  Normally I would almost automatically go with the wood finish, but I really like the minimal look of the plastic version as well (although  I would love to see more color options). To read more, or to learn more about Henrybuilt visit their website.  Thanks Lisa!

REVIEW | THE DOTS BY MUUTO

The Coatrack Dots by Tveit & Tornøe for the Nordic design studio Muuto are a wonderful combination of form and function. The set contains one large, one medium, and three small hooks, available at DWR.
