ÖSTERMALM APARTMENT
After some quick searching, Emma Sahlin and Nils Unckel found their dream apartment in Östermalm in Stockholm. With the help of interior designer Hannah Bastin, they set to work renovating this turn of the century apartment into a modern home for their family. Their goal was to create a public and private division, while keeping things open. They accomplished this using sliding doors and altering ceiling heights. In the kitchen the achieved an open and airy feeling by removing partition walls, staying away from overhead cabinets, painting the floor boards white, and using a white tile from counter to ceiling. The result is a bright, clean space with a slight industrial feel. I really like the Salt Chairs used in the kitchen (Design Within Reach, $98.00), and the striped pendant light over the table (Kartell).
