I can think of so many places and uses for the String Shelf in our home. Made in Sweden by Stringfurniture, it is a simple and extremely versatile design. I think my favorite finish would have to be the black and walnut combination, although I also love the all white option. The Stringfurniture website has a fantastic gallery of images showing how people have used their shelves, and they often select the most “fun and creative” shelf combination to win one of their Pocket Shelves.

Just a little interior inspiration from the newest book in my collection, Modern Vintage Style. I love when Amazon recommends something you will like, and it turns out to be right.

Although meal time happens around the table, at snack time our girls have free reign of where to eat (depending on the messiness of the snack). We will often find smashed remnants of afternoon snackery in unusual places. In a drawer, under a pillow, in a toy stroller, inside pants pockets, on the patio… wherever the action was happening at snack time. When I saw these Classic Trays brought to us by Vitra, I thought they would be a wonderful solution. Besides being amazing to look at, the girls could eat off of them and afterward the mess and devastation would hopefully be contained to the tray for easy removal.
The classic trays are available in five designs with artwork and patterns by iconic design legends Charles & Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and George Nelson, and can be ordered through Hive Modern, among other places

Considering the amount of time I spend at a desk it is strange that I haven’t invested in a better one at this point. I am never happy with the amount of storage, size, look, or finish but instead of solving the problem I just keep living with what I have. These desks from Pinch Design are enough to make me realize I should put more effort into a permanent solution. I love the look, and the amount of storage is perfect for me. When I get to many drawers or shelves they tend to fill with random papers and things I am too lazy to find real places for, so these would be perfect. And of course I would love to pair the desk with the amazing IMO Stool for the complete package.

I really like the idea behind Raw-Edges Design Studio’s PlaidBench. Created for the Dilmos Milano collection, it takes advantage of the striped pattern common to most iconic benches, and interlocks them to produce the plaid surface.
