RURAL THEORY

I love the ideology behind this design/build partnership, and what I have seen thus far of their work.  Rural Theory is the combination of Jarod Harmeier and Blake Dollahite.

Rural Theory Design & Build is about creating well-considered modern homes that feel new and exciting, but also ver warm and familiar.  We believe a house should be about effective direction and natural light, mindful of how a body feels and moves through space, and considerate of its neighbors and the environment…We’re also interested in how those things help to form a real experience –  like waking up in the morning, or coming home from work.”

For more info and photos from the design duo, visit the Rural Theory site.

That house may look great. But I hired Rural Theory and they left my home in shambles. Most of the work completed has had to be re-done, the permits were not even pulled properly. Two years later after well over 100k was spent via Rural Theory I am now still struggling to fix the home. My house is only 1600 square feet, no additions were made to the house and it is a nightmare. I would warn anyone to be careful of a team that has spotlighted a personal home. If you still not sure feel free to see my home or ask to walk through Jarod Harmeier home.

If you have any specific examples, or images of problem areas, I’d love to see. You can email at practicallymodern@gmail.com.

It is unfortunate when great philosophies on design don’t get carried through. It is one thing to have great ideas, and quite another to make them a reality, and that is exactly what this blog is about, getting to the bottom of whether or not design works in the field. I can only hope not all their projects end up as yous has, because I loved what their bio had to say about their ideals. Thanks for sharing.
